Bible Corner - Prayer Chapel
Stained Glass - East Wall of Prayer Chapel Raising of Jairus's Daughter
The votive candle stand in the prayer chapel, located in the south transept of the church, was given in memory of Steven Newing, a young boy disappeared from Fakenham aged 11 in 1969.
It is locally made of wrought iron and was specially comissioned by his mother, Jean Newing. On the prayer altar can be found a crucifix and on this occasion a copy of the Book of Common Prayer. The chapel is intended for silent prayer and meditation for all who need it and the inclusion of books such as this often give people a focus to their prayer. On the edge of the window looking into the Prayer Chapel can be found a number of bibles for those who need them, whether for prayer or for reference. This image was taken from the Bell Tower, looking towards the Prayer Chapel. The processional crucifix used on Sunday services can be seen clearly affixed to the end of a pew, on the side of the Prayer Chapel. This window depicts the raising of Jarius's daughter and was given in 1890 in memory of Elizabeth Edgar.
