The magnificent brass lectern is also used as a pulpit. It depicts an eagle in flight and is used on Sundays to carry the Bible, the Christian good news. It was given by Mrs Damant in memory of her husband in 1887. The lectern is the focal point for both the readings from the bible and the preaching of the sermons on a Sunday The magnificent lectern is held in place by three large and imposing lions The detail in the lectern is often overlooked by most visitors to the church.
