You will no doubt be aware of the latest guidance from the government prohibiting gatherings of more than six people from Monday 15th September – the so called ‘Rule of Six’. It is the Church’s understanding at the moment that these regulations will not apply to public worship or individual prayer and so we will until otherwise instructed be continuing to open the church daily for private prayer as we have been doing, and we will be continuing to meet every Sunday at 9.30am for a short act of public worship in a COVID-secure environment.

The Church of England website states (updated 9 September at 18:38): “… we understand the new regulations will not apply to public worship or individual prayer in church buildings”. They go on to say: “Whilst Government guidance has been revised to allow certain activities to take place in church buildings, it is still vital that the necessary hygiene and social distancing precautions are kept in place in order to protect the NHS and save lives”.

We are keeping the situation under constant review and will update you if any other guidance is forthcoming.
