Volunteering at Fakenham Parish Church
Fakenham Parish Church, in common with most churches throughout the country, relies heavily on the kindness of its congregation and local community in volunteering their time to help in the running of the church and all its events throughout the year.
We are continually in need of fresh people to take up the slack when members of existing teams need a rest. If you can find the time and have an inclination to help us then please consider contacting the following people. The more volunteers we have the easier the task or work becomes and the more we enjoy regular contact with the friends of our church.
Christmas Tree Festival
This major event in our calendar requires a great number of volunteers to turn it into what is considered to be the best annual festival of its type in our area. For eight days we need stewards, catering staff, help with the Festival stall, tombola and Grand Draw. In addition there is considerable set up and dismantling work where a little muscle is needed. Planning for this event, which takes place in late November or early December each year, starts in February.

Refreshments
There is always a need for help in providing refreshments for events. Every Thursday a team of helpers provides soup and refreshments. If you can help on Thursdays or other times of the year particularly at our Christmas Tree Festival.

Church Choir
The church has an active choral tradition and welcomes new members to sing at services, weddings and funerals. It meets twice a week for practice on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. It currently has four active parts and an average attendance of 15 members.

Bell Ringing
We are fortunate in Fakenham in that we have an active bell ringing team that rings on Sundays and at weddings and funerals when requested. It also rings on selected festival days.
This skilful task requires training and if you would like to join the team please contact The Church Ringing Master Kevin Allcock on 01328 853928.
Book and Jigsaw Puzzle Fairs
We hold three or four of these events in a year and need people to help sort the books into categories and assist in selling on the day. It usually takes no more than one or two evenings and a Saturday morning.
Please contact the Rectory Office on 01328 862268.
Fabric Team
This team is part of our Parochial Church Council but is open to church goers who have a skill to offer in the repair, renovation and remodelling of our church. This team always has plenty of work to do as is common with most old buildings. It meets six times a year formally but often there are working groups established to attend to a particular task such as the annual spring clean. Over the next three years this group will be concentrating on the proposed remodelling of the church interior and would welcome support from local trades people and craftsmen.
For more information please contact the Rectory Office 01328 862268
Church Cleaning
With many demands being made of the church and the Trinity Room there is a constant need for cleaning teams. We would appreciate contact with any who could devote an hour or two to help. Obviously, the more helpers we have then the less frequently cleaning duty is required by each team.
Please contact the Rectory Office 01328 862268
Church Stewards
During the summer months the church enjoys many visitors and we like to welcome them into our church. This requires a team of stewards who can commit to two hours per week between 10.00am and 4.00pm. The team are drawn not only from the church congregation but also from any person in the town who has an interest in our great building.
Please contact Moira Morley 01328 855874 or through the Rectory office 01328 862268.
Church Flowers
Our church flower team provides colour throughout most of the year and also supports the bi-annual flower festival. As with many groups the more volunteers the less the overall task becomes for individuals so if you would like to join the flower rota.
